Introduction

My name is Robert GrilI, I have worked in Automotive Industry for over 38 years, partnering with some of the most influential people & companies in the industry. My story, like many of ours, began inside dealerships as a Salesperson and, eventually, as the GM for both Toyota & Dodge stores. Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor of working in key leadership roles with industry titans Al and Mike Maroone, Lou Grubb, Bruton Smith, AutoNation and CARFAX. During my tenure as the National Variable Operations Trainer at AutoNation, I played a pivotal role in shaping educational initiatives, contributing to the establishment of AN University, Vehicle Manager University, and General Manager University. I also served as the Corporate Used Vehicle Director, where I proudly spearheaded the creation of 26 Value Vehicle Outlets. The most recent chapter of my career unfolded over 12 years at CARFAX, where I served as the Senior Partner Development Manager. At CARFAX, my contributions led to the development and implementation of groundbreaking tools like the CARFAX History-Based Value tool, CARFAX Car Listings, and CARFAX Car Care. I played a key role in crafting CARFAX for Life products and launching CARFAX University, a cornerstone in supporting over 30,000 dealers and 99% of OEM’s CPO programs. As an accomplished trainer, I have conducted over 3,000 live in-person and online training sessions for dealerships, gracing major industry events such as NADA, NIADA, IADA, Used Car Week, and Digital Dealer. While at CARFAX, I also hosted the podcast "Just the FAX," which addresses topics ranging from social media strategies to Used Car acquisition and provides invaluable insights into dealership sales operations. My expertise extends across all areas of dealership operations, including but not limited to Used Car Acquisition, Marketing & Sales, Salespeople Training, and Manager Training. My role has always been consultative, striving to elevate and optimize sales processes, making them more efficient and profitable for all departments. Now, armed with over 38 years of hands-on experience, I am enthusiastic about channeling my expertise to contribute to the success of your dealership.
